Australian Brush-Tailed Possums – Poetry

The following are five poems about Australian possums, written in the style of Mother Goose.

Little Possum in the Tree

Little Possum in the tree, With eyes so bright, what do you see? You curl your tail and hide away, As nighttime turns to light of day.

You sneak and scurry, swift and sly, With a gentle gaze in your beady eye. You roam the night, oh possum dear, Bringing joy and a touch of fear.

Little Possum in the tree, You’re nature’s creature, wild and free. Though some may find you quite a pest, Your presence brings a welcome zest.

Brush-Tailed Possum’s Midnight Adventure

When the moon is high and the night is still, The possum ventures with a stealthy skill. From tree to tree, it silently creeps, In search of treasures while the world sleeps.

Oh, possum dear, what tales you hold, Of secret journeys in the night so bold. Through the shadows you nimbly glide, With a playful spirit you cannot hide.

Possum’s midnight adventure, oh so grand, Exploring the darkness, a secret land. But as the sun begins to rise, You find your cozy nest and close your eyes.

Ring-Tailed Possum’s Little Surprise

In a hollow log, snug and tight, A possum dreams throughout the night. But when the dawn begins to break, Possum wakes up, fully awake.

With a yawn and stretch, it starts to roam, In search of berries and a tasty home. But wait! What’s this upon the ground? A tiny baby possum, safe and sound!

Possum’s little surprise, so sweet, Nestled safely, all complete. With tender care, the mama sighs, And off they go, under the skies.

Australian Possum’s Secret Hideaway

Deep in the woods, where shadows play, Lies a hidden spot where possums stay. A secret hideaway, oh so cozy, With branches woven, keeping them rosy.

In the nooks and crannies of the trees, Possums find solace, safe from the breeze. They curl their tails and close their eyes, Resting peacefully under moonlit skies.

Possum’s secret hideaway, a tranquil retreat, Where nature’s wonders and dreams meet. A place of refuge, away from strife, Where possums rest their adventurous life.

Possum’s Silly Antics

Possum in the garden, oh so bold, Dancing and prancing, never growing old. With clumsy feet and a playful grin, It hops and skips with a merry spin.

Possum’s silly antics, a comical sight, It tumbles and stumbles in the pale moonlight. But don’t be fooled by its jolly cheer, Possum’s cleverness is crystal clear.

In the midst of laughter, mischief lies, As possum darts beneath the skies. With a wink and nod, it bids adieu, Leaving us chuckling, wondering what it’ll do.
